At our offices indemnities are filled out before skydiving, and different camera and video options are explained to the students.
After driving out to the Drop Zone which is in the beautiful Namib Desert, adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, you get trained and dresses to go skydiving. With your tandem master you take a short walk to the aircraft, and that is when your adventure begins. During the twenty-five minute breathtaking scenic flight up to 10 000 feet above Swakopmund and surrounding areas, your tandem master will re-brief and crosscheck all the skydiving equipment, and ensures that you are confident and comfortable and ready to skydive. At 10 000 feet just prior to exit you put on the skydiving goggles, shuffle to the door and with a “ready set go” you fall from the aircraft. As you fall towards the ground at a speed of approximately 200km/h the fresh Atlantic air rushes by. Your adrenalin kicks in and you finally know what it feels like to fly. After your adrenalin rushed 30 sec of freefall the tandem master deploys the parachute and you gently slow down as the canopy inflates above. A comfortable ride under a fully inflated parachute lowers you gently down, until you touchdown safely back on the desert floor.
We have two different video options, that you can choose from. All videos are downloaded on DVD’s and photos on CD’s and personalized with music and all exciting clips.
With this video option the Tandem master himself has a camera attached to his wrist in a special housing glove. This allows him to film the two of you in the plane, during the whole jump and parachute ride. This is nice and up close so this means putting on your good face for the day.
A cameraman jumps and flies with the tandem pair and takes both video footage and photos. The exit of the plane, freefall and opening of the canopy is being film, and as soon as the parachute deployes the cameraman will fly down to the ground and await the tandem pair to catch the very first expressions, smiles and excitement on film. Average amount of digital photo’s is about 50.
The acronym AFP stands for Accelerated Freefall Progression. This program, designed by professional skydivers, is approved by the United States Parachute Association, has been adopted by the Parachute Association of Namibia (PANAM), and is the most comprehensive skydiving course in the world. Throughout AFP, you will benefit from one-on-one instruction, with intensive ground training and direct, in-air supervision. You will progress through 8 performance levels at your own pace, learning basic body flight and canopy skills. Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the tools you need to be a safe skydiver, and participate in all the fun this sport has to offer.
This is the most cost effective way of learning to skydive. It is a 6 hour training course the student learns how all the equipment works and how to fly and land a parachute safely. After the training course the student is taken to the Drop Zone which is in the beautiful Namib Desert, adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean. At the Drop Zone the student is briefed about the jump and is kitted up for their static line jump. Before the student walks to the aircraft, his equipment is re-checked and he is re-briefed on his jump by the static line instructor. When the aircraft reaches 1000 feet the static line instructor hooks up the static line and at 3000 feet gets the student ready for exit. After the exit the parachute opens gently and then the student flies his parachute safely back down to the ground for landing.
